For every blog I write I try to come up with a photo that demonstrates the subject of the blog. This blog is about the absolute unchangeableness of God. What picture would you use? I used the Horsehead Nebula just because I like the picture. But space is changing all the time… everything is changing all the time. Governments, clothing styles, technology (that changes every day!), car models, our physical bodies, and the list goes on. Sit for a moment and think about something in your sphere of knowledge that doesn’t change, ever.
There is only one unchangeable presence, person, or power in ALL of existence.
quoting from the Navigator tool, “30 Days of Praying the Names and Attributes of God.”:
God is Immutable.
All that God is, He has always been. All that He has been and is, He will ever be. He is ever perfect and unchanging.
“Of old You founded the earth, And the heavens are the work of Your hands. “Even they will perish, but You endure; And all of them will wear out like a garment; Like clothing You will change them and they will be changed. “But You are the same, And Your years will not come to an end. “The children of Your servants will continue, And their descendants will be established before You.” Psalm 102:25–28
A.W. Tozer, in his book, “The attributes of God: Study guide” said,
“Immutability means ‘not subject to change.’ God simply never changes. Change is not even possible with God. ‘God never differs from Himself.’
A perfect being cannot get better, nor an infinite being get greater; neither can a holy and righteous God become worse.
When we turn to Him in our need, isn’t it wonderful to know that He never changes? He is with us always ready to take us in, whatever our need.”
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Hebrews 13:8
The practical side of this is that if you pray about some issue today, and pray about the same issue tomorrow, or every day for years; God is not changing His mind every time you pray. HE NEVER CHANGES – HIS PLAN NEVER CHANGES!
The loving God Moses prayed to is the same God to whom you can pray. The forgiving God David prayed to is the exact same Person you go to for forgiveness. The gracious God Peter and Paul went to in prayer is EXACTLY the same God to whom you can go.
The Lord’s lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, For His compassions never fail. Lamentations 3:22
Think about it…
