Why doesn’t God do something?

Most of us find ourselves, at one time or another, in a tough circumstance.  At work, with family, with friends, or even facing physical difficulties.  When that happens it’s easy to say, “Why doesn’t God fix this?”  “Why doesn’t He do something?”  “I’m waiting and waiting, but nothing is happening!”  Sound familiar?  It sure does in my life.

Too often in hard times and tough situations, we worry, we fret, we talk to friends and maybe even family.  But, we forget to talk to God.  We literally forget to pray.

You might be thinking… “Well, God knows everything.  Why doesn’t He just do what needs to be done?  Do I have to ask?  Is prayer going to change anything?”

God’s answer is yes!  Prayer changes everything!   James 4:2 says “…You do not have because you do not ask.”

We see this clearly in Isaiah 30:18… it says, “Therefore the LORD longs to be gracious to you, And therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you. For the LORD is a God of justice; How blessed are all those who long for Him.”  [NASB]

Do you see that God is waiting and longing to give us blessings? But, He often has to just wait until we open ourselves up and ask for Him to take the action He longs to take on our behalf!

Jesus put it this way, “So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” Luke 11:9

Go to Him.  Tell Him what’s on your heart.  He’s waiting!

Think about it…

I find this to be true in my life. I will have something bothering me I will talk to my Parents or Daughters. I will mull it over go to bed with it wake up with it. Never realizing God wants to talk about it.

I know what you mean, Vicki. But, God is waiting. Talk to Him… then listen to Him by seeking through the scriptures and listening for His voice through His word. He wants to come through for you.
      Thanks for reading.

Thanks Len for sharing this site. I loved reading Isa 30:18, reminding uf of God’s posture in Heaven, disinterest or unconcern certainly don’t line up with what this verse teaches us… and yet we struggle don’t we. Grace to you, Carl
